Whether you've recently purchased a mobile home in need of some work or you want to give your existing mobile home an update, one great place to start is in the bathroom. Remodeling the bathroom can be a challenge, particularly if you have a smaller space, but there are some things you can do with the help of mobile home supplies and a bit of creativity. Here are some options for updating your mobile home's bathroom.

Replace The Shower Base Or Tub Surround

Shower bases and tub surrounds can become damaged, dingy, or otherwise worn in a mobile home. These supplies are often made from materials other than porcelain or ceramic, such as plastic. Plastic materials can be susceptible to stains and dings. Replacing these items can give the room a fresh, clean appearance even if you don't make any other changes. Consider replacing the shower base or tub surround, depending on your bathroom's setup. Take some time to replace any substrate or underlayment if you see any signs of water damage in order to prevent mold growth. For a tub surround, look for a design that features built-in shelves to provide convenient storage in your small space.

Install Over-The-Toilet Shelving

When storage is at a premium, consider using vertical space in your bathroom to prevent clutter. Custom over-the-toilet cabinetry or shelving can provide lots of storage options while creating a built-in look. If you have enough space on either side of the toilet, consider installing two long cabinets on either side for storing towels, toilet paper, and other personal items. Over the toilet, you can install smaller cabinets to hold items you might want to keep out of reach of children. If you don't have a lot of room, you can opt for a wall-mounted shelving system that is placed directly above the toilet.

Select New Flooring

In the interest of keeping the cost of mobile homes down, some models feature vinyl flooring in the bathroom. Some vinyl flooring may be dated, with bright colors or designs that are no longer on-trend, while others may show signs of peeling or bubbling. This type of flooring can present a shoddy look for your bathroom. However, replacing the flooring doesn't have to be an expensive project. You can remove the vinyl as a DIY project and install a more beautiful, durable option in the bathroom. Be sure to look for a design and tile size that fits the proportions of the room to keep the flooring looking modern and stylish.

Of course, there are many other options for updating your mobile home bathroom, including new hardware and a new vanity. Visit the mobile home supplies section of your local big box hardware store for inspiration as you begin to give your mobile home a makeover.
